The company wanted a strategy that focused on health rather than just benefits.
We came up with a comprehensive, multidimensional approach that combined supply-side and demand-side tactics. Supply-side tactics for controlling health care costs included better medical network discount arrangements, better prescription plan pricing, and consolidation of vendors and administrative processes, to name a few. On the demand-side, tactics included a disease management campaign, consumer education and behavior changes that improved employees’ health.
Our multidimensional strategy was so successful, it helped York International keep health care cost increases below national averages while also increasing employee participation in disease management and saving the company money through competitive bidding of its PBM program.
